You, or your Florence Nightingale, will need;
- 1 Tbsp of natural honey - One of the better known health benefits of honey is that it is able to help treat sore throats. Thanks to its antimicrobial properties, honey not only soothes throats but can also kill certain bacteria that causes the infection.
- 1 Tbsp of raw lemon juice - Being rich in Vitamin C, it is essential for maintaining a fully functional immune system and although acidic to taste, lemons are one of the most alkaline of foods and help to push our bodies to the required pH alkaline state of around 7.4
- 1/4 tsp of ground ginger - Ginger root can be ground, and the extract mixed with water, honey and lemon for a healing tea to relieve cold and flu symptoms. Also perfect to add a little spice to this sweet beverage to stimulate blood circulation and warm cold hands and feet.
- 1/4 tsp of Camu powder – 15% vitamin C by weight, Camu has more than any other food. It strengthens the immune system, is a natural antioxidant and is anti viral.
- Dash of cayenne pepper to taste - Cayenne pepper aids in breaking up and moving congested mucus. Once mucus begins to leave the body, generally relief from flu symptoms follows. Cayenne has the ability to ease stomach upset, ulcers, sore throats, spasmodic and irritating coughs, and diarrhea. Is also good for headaches and helps to stimulate the production of saliva.
Mix all ingredients together with hot water into a mug, (boil it first and let it cool before you add the ingredients to save damaging the integrity of many of the nutrients) add a little cold so as not to scald, stir well and drink while hot. Repeat as often as you like. And don't forget to stay well hydrated with plenty of water!
